A NIGHT AFTER "SLIM JIMS"

My husband came home from work last night eating not ONE, but TWO of those really big Slim Jims.  You know the round beef jerky sticks?  Not the short ones, but the ones that seem like they are two feet tall?
I like beef jerky, too, but the Slim Jims, for some reason always make his breath smell *HORRIBLE*.  Not just horrible for the time being, but horrible after "brushing teeth, mouth wash and next morning" horrible!  I cannot stand the smell of his stinky breath after he eats those Slim Jims.
I'm the first one to get up and ready for work in the morning.  I wanted to totally dry heave/gag because the "air" in our bedroom smelled like disgusting, dirty breath Slim Jims!

Me:  "Ewww!  Our bedroom smells awful!  It's from you eating those Slim Jims last night."

Him:  "I brushed my teeth."

Me:  "It doesn't help.  It's not going away until you get up and eat something to absorb them in your stomach, so they quit smelling through your breath."

Me:  "PLEASE don't eat those anymore.  It's so bad."

Him:  "But I like them."  (little boy inflection in his voice like I am telling him to never play with Matchbox cars again.)
Me:  "I'm just telling you that it grosses me out and I'm sure when you talk to people throughout your day, they will think you are gross, too."  (haha)
I'm sure this isn't the last time I will be dealing with the Slim Jim problem. It's not like he eats them all the time either, but when he does, it aint pretty, people!

Do you have any "smells" in your life that completely make you want to throw up?  Share!

  1. Hi Patty,

Dropping by from FF. Thanks for following me. I'm following you back.

I don't know what a Slim Jim smells like, but I think I have you trumped. Early in our marriage my husband used to make raw garlic sandwiches with about a half dozen cloves of garlic--he read somewhere that garlic was really healthy for you. Then he would come to bed and man, he reeked. The whole room reeked! He reeked for days after, because it came through in his pores. He eventually stopped because I think he got tired of my complaining--either that or somebody from work commented to him about his stench.

One other smell that is pretty awful is Thai fish sauce--it reminds me of puppy breath, which funnily enough I like the smell of, but it is different when there isn't a soft wriggly puppy attached to it. I have a favourite recipe that uses fish sauce, but we all complain of the smell when it is cooking--then gobble up the food afterwards. It is worth it.

  3. Monsters!!! My husband loves those energy drinks and the smell makes me want to gag! Especially if he burps it up...I think I gag in my mouth when he does that! I actually hate the smell of them all...my ex boyfriend use to drink red bull and I hated those too!

    MMMMM...I LOVE SLIM JIM!! :)

  4. That is just hysterical! What is it with husbands and those little boy faces? Unfortunately my husband would kill me if I told you what I think creates the most repulsive smell...so I'll leave it to your imagination.

Thank you so much for sharing that wonderful story on my blog...I'm so glad you were comfortable doing so...and, truthfully, I'm kind of glad that "nothing further" came of it. Have a great weekend, Patty.
